Chief Red Blanket Clarence Wixon Jr was born April 13th 1934 and returned to the earth July 27th 1990

A natural leader, he founded the Algonquin Indian Association, Co-Charted the Boston Indian Council, Bristol County Indian Association and assisted in the organization the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council. He welcomed all sisters and brothers from across Turtle Island, offering employment, housing and healthcare assistance.  

Upon his passing, Massachusetts Governor Micheal Dukakis proclaimed that July 27th be known forever as Chief Red Blanket Day; and that his death was "One of the greatest losses amongst the Native American Community in the last 50 years".
